There are two troupes of the Teelin Irish Dance Company, each based out of our Columbia studio. Auditions are held in the late Spring each year if positions are available, and are open to advanced level Teelin dancers (or intermediate level with great potential) who share a passion for performing and perfection. Company dancers must excel in three areas: technique, stage presence, and positive attitude / team spirit.
Auditions for the 2011-2012 Teelin Irish Dance Company were held on May 6, 2011 - see this document for 2011 Audition FAQs.
Maureen is very proud of each and every dancer who auditioned. She knows from personal experience that the audition experience can be stressful and challenging. As the Director of the Teelin Irish Dance Company, Maureen does not take her position lightly, and some times tough decisions are necessary.
Congratulations to each of the dancers invited to 2011-12 Company Troupe, Peanut Troupe, and Performance Classes! Audition results have been sent by email to all those who auditioned, and are also available from the link below.

Dancers, if you were not offered a position, please don’t lose heart. Continue to work on your technique throughout the year, develop more confidence with a wide variety of dance steps, and consider competing at feiseanna as an opportunity to focus and advance your skills.
Members of each of the Teelin Irish Dance Company troupes are required to attend a mandatory Company Summer Camp, to commit to the troupe's rehearsal and performance schedules, to purchase certain costumes, and to enroll in the upper level Irish dance classes at Teelin School of Irish Dance.
Each troupe meets for weekly practice throughout the school year. Additional rehearsals will be scheduled as needed. Maureen Gately, Director of the Teelin Irish Dance Company, works directly with each of the troupes and choreographs or approves all dances. There are also an adult Company Manager and a Troupe Assistant to assist with communication amongst the dancers and their families.
Important information about each performance will be sent to company dancers by email and posted on the password-protected "members website".
