Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

What costume will my dancer wear in the Spring Show?
A summary of student costumes is available at this link (password-protected, access for Teelin members only). When the costumes for each class arrive, they will be distributed to students in class (unless payment for the costume has not yet been received). Note that students in the competition classes are responsible for securing their own costume for the Spring Show.

There will be a "Costume Check" (like a dress rehearsal) in all classes April 11-15.

In which show is my class performing? In Act 1 or Act 2 of that show?
View or print the class assignments for each show here. Note that this is NOT THE ORDER OF DANCES. The complete set list for each show will be published as soon as possible, and will include the order for each dance, including which Teelin Irish Dance Company numbers are performed in each show.

When is the Dress Rehearsal?
Dress Rehearsals will be held at the Jim Rouse Theater on Friday, April 16 between 3:30pm and 8:30pm. A rehearsal schedule will be published as soon as possible.

How can I get tickets to the Teelin Spring Show?
Tickets will be sold by parent volunteers at each studio location during classes March 7-18. These tickets must be paid for with check, cash or money order. (If cash, please have exact change.)

Schedule for ticket sales in each studio:
        Columbia - Sunday, March 7 from 1-4:30
        Columbia - Mondays, March 8 & 15 from 5:30-7pm
        Columbia - Tuesdays, March 9 & 16 from 5:30-7pm
        Millersville - Tuesdays, March 9 & 16 from 5-8pm
Columbia - Wednesday, March 10 from 12-2:30pm and from 5-7:30pm
Wednesday, March 17 from 5-7:30pm (no classes this day, but tickets sold at Columbia studio)
        Columbia - Thursdays, March 11& 18 from 6:30-8pm
        Timonium - Thursdays, March 11 & 18 from 4:30-6:30pm

Online ticket sales begin March 22 at 10 am. There is a service charge of $3.50 per ticket if purchased online. All tickets ordered online will be held at the Will Call window. If a show sells out before March 22, there will not be any additional tickets available online for that show so it is recommended you purchase tickets in the studio if possible.

Seating is general admission. (This is a great theater - there are no "bad" seats!)

Can my dancer watch the show?
Yes, your dancer may watch the show but only the half of the show that they are not performing in. So if your dancer is in Act 1, during intermission they may leave backstage and watch Act 2. If your dancer is in Act 2, they can watch Act 1 and then come backstage during intermission and then perform in Act 2.

Any student planning to watch part of the show from the audience must purchase a $10 student ticket. All seats in the theater require tickets.

On the day of the show, when do I need to be at the theater and what besides costume & shoes do I need to bring?

1:00pm Show - Dancers should arrive by 12noon.
5:30pm Show - Dancers should arrive by 4:30pm.
(Teelin Irish Dance Company members will be rehearsing earlier that morning, details TBA...)

The theater is very strict about no food in the dressing rooms. Water will be provided for dancers backstage. Most dancers do not need to be backstage through a mealtime this year, therefore please try to eat before/after your time at the theater.

For dancers who are performing in both shows, you may bring a snack or light meal in a cooler or other container separate from your dance bag and clearly marked with your name. Upon arrival, drop this off at the tables on Main Street.

Young dancers are encouraged to bring an activity for backstage down time.

Who participates in the Finale?
All dancers will participate in a Finale at the end of each act. The finale will be rehearsed at the dress rehearsal. Dancers must stay in costume and be backstage to participate in the finale. Students/parents may move to/from the theater seating during intermission only to provide as little disruption as possible. Any student planning to watch part of the show from the audience must purchase a $10 student ticket.

What's this about "Dancing Dads"?
All fathers are invited (and encouraged!) to perform with their dancer(s) again this year in "Dancing Dads"!

Dancing Dads Rehearsal (OPTIONAL) on Sunday, April 11, 5:00-6:30pm in Columbia

step notation and instructional video (password-protected)

Dancing Dads will be the opening number of the second act. Dads, please hurry backstage at intermission for a quick run through behind the closed curtain. After the dance is performed, you may return to your seat. Dads are encouraged to wear a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers (kilts are optional!), and dancers are encouraged to wear a matching t-shirt, jeans and soft shoes. This is a FUN experience! Enjoy it!

How can I help?
Two parent volunteers for each Beginner through Level 3 class are needed to monitor the students backstag., Volunteers are also needed for concession sales, taking tickets, and distributing programs. More information about volunteer opportunities will be posted soon, or inquiries may be sent to volunteer@teelin.com.

Will the Teelin Spring Show be filmed?
Yes. DVD's may be purchased for each for both days of the show. Ordering information will be posted here as soon as available.

Are professional pictures taken?
This year professional pictures will NOT be offered. Our experience has been that offering pictures during the dress rehearsal takes a lot of time and coordination and often puts the dress rehearsal off schedule. After each class runs their dance routine on stage, they will then proceed to a class room backstage where we’ll have backdrops set up for picture taking. Parents are encouraged to come backstage at that time and take individual pictures and a class photo with your own camera. Volunteers will help with posing the dancers.
